Story Behind the Song
After we decided to split on a common agreement with my girlfriend, after 5 years of close relation ship, I realized that though she was re-making her life quite well, I didn't manage as well. She always wanted me to do her a song when we were together, but how would I since everything was Ok at that time ? Why writing on something doing fine ?
6 months after the separation, when I was really, really missing her, the words first came up to me very quickly and naturally, and the chords too, which are quite simple : Am, F9, D9, and a change of key in the bridge, up to Dm.
I tried to show the difference of feelings between the sadness and the anger by alternating the height of my vocals, low on verses and high and tough at the end of the verse : "il n'est pas trop tard" ("it's not too late").
Lyrics
Laisse-moi y croire
Laisse-moi vouloir
Souffler un peu
Sur la flamme de notre histoire
Si tu donnes un peu du tien
Je te jure
Je t'offrirai tout du mien
Il n'est pas trop tard
Donne-moi une chance
Accorde-moi un sursis
Epargne-moi ton absence
Je me ferai tout petit
Les larmes, tu vois
Sont encore tièdes
Et leur goût
Ce que je connais de plus amer
Il n'est pas trop tard
Il n'est pas si tard
Laisse-moi risquer
Laisse-moi oser
Te frôler un peu
Encore au moins jusqu'à demain
La nuit, tu sais
Est encore longue
Tu verras
Comme elle saura se montrer féconde
Il n'est pas trop tard
Il n'est pas si tard
