Story Behind the Song
There is a place in "Mid America" that as you descend down the side of a mountain, at a certain altitude, you enter a "Valley of No Sound". Your ears seem to shut down totally. Most people find this phenomenon irritating. But if you concentrate on what you can hear, instead of what you can't, you'll start to hear the rhythm of your heartbeat, your breathing, and all the sounds within your body. If you take that a step further, and listen carefully enough, you'll begin to hear the "Music" of your imagination. I am unsure of where that "Music" actually comes from, but it was in this "Valley of No Sound" that I first heard it. And thus, "Dial Hollar" became the process of bringing that "Music" out of the "Valley of No Sound" and into the studio...............Daniel J.
