A poppy li'l ditty about Pegasus, the great winged horse.
CD: People You Haven't Met   Label: Eremite Productions

    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song for an astronomy class I took at UMass Amherst. This will be the smash hit single off my upcoming album, People You Haven't Met.

    Lyrics
    Perseus was a hero
    he shot Medusa down
he cut that Gorgon's head right off and
    blood sprayed all around
the blood mixed with some water
and gave birth to a winged horse
I bet you're wonderin' what his name was
his name was Pegasus of course
    Pegasus is a constellation
a group of stars shining bright in the sky
    Pegasus deserves much celebration
I wrote this song to tell you why
well Pegasus was a free bird
or a free horse I should say
he flew around and around and around
till he was captured one day
    he was fooled by Bellerophon
who caught him against his will
Bellerophon had plans to fly him
    on up to heaven until
    Pegasus had enough of Bellerophon
he threw that man right off his back
and Zeus was pleased with his bravery
which saved the heavens from attack
Zeus liked that old winged horse
and hooked him up with a home
Zeus let him stay in the heavens
where he was free to roam
well Pegasus just loved his new job
    carrying lightning bolts for Zeus
and did you know that in his spare time
    he influenced poetic muse?
    (that's right)
One day Mt. Hellicon rose up
    right to the heavens above
    well Pegasus he freaked out
and gave that mountain a shove
well out burst the fountain of Hippocrene
the waters that inspire the soul
and hence gave birth to the creativity
of all the poets you know
and now you know the story of Pegasus
that great winged horse so strong and true
    he is my favorite constellation
and I hope you like him too
