Instrumental celebrating the Apollo 11 launch in 1969. It was inspired both by that first moon launch 34 years ago and the rock instrumentals of the Ventures of that time. I tried to take the Venture guitar lead sound and push it into this century. Give it a listen -- see what you think. |

Story Behind the Song
I actually started working on this on the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch in 1999, but couldn't quite get the sound I wanted. I picked it up again this year and worked on it more and developed some guitar riffs I liked better. It took me over a month to record this in my basement studio because I kept re-doing the guitar and wound up splicing 4 different versions together to get the sound I wanted and eliminate all the screw-ups. I used an original telecaster from the early '70's to get the sound and of course lots of reverb and echo. The launch sequence incorporated into the beginning is the actual Apollo 11 launch sequence edited to make it fit the space.
