Story Behind the Song
You might think the keyboard part is crappy. You would be right. What you don't know is that it was Shane's first time recording with a keyboard. So give him a break. The lyrics are bizarre, yet thought-provoking. What else could the radioflyer be?
Lyrics
The morning of my sixteenth birthday, I stumbled out of bed, and hazily made my way past my sleeping family into the garage. You see, the radioflyer within was in desperate need of restoration. Behind my old bike, and a box of old toys I found a new can of bright, shiny red paint. In the darkness, I hid from my family. Carefully filling each and every crevice of that radioflyer with the cherry-red paint.
My desperate attempts to keep the radioflyer new and unaffected by the harsh environment seemed to be paying off, until they found me. As if they all knew exactly where I'd be, they burst into the garage; my last sanctuary. I threw myself onto that radioflyer, and hung for dear life as my family continually tried to shove the candle-ridden birthday cake into my face.
