Story Behind the Song
This song began on a night when I was riding the subway alone and watching the people around me. It amazes me that no matter how long you watch someone you can never really now what's going on inside their head, and vice versa. You may think sometimes people can see right through you but that's only your perception.
Lyrics
Lonely teardrops are turning the curves of your cheeks
Holding the place where the two of us meet
We thought nothing could shatter these walls
But there’s always somewhere to turn
Shuffling through these doors on a midnight subway train
The shadow in the corner is calling out your name
It’s hard to find the words that I used to say
That rolled off my tongue in such an effortless way
I would watch the door for you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I ‘d say that I’m on to you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I, I, I’m slippin without you
Lonely teardrops are wasted when you’re feeling blue
You been questioning the ground too long, its not just you
How can you expect to be one who’s got it all
Once in awhile, we all most take a fall
I would watch the door for you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I ‘d say that I’m on to you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I, I, I’m slippin without you
Save your money and save your clothes
You got mine and I got yours
The only thing you want in this world
Will leave you cold and begging for more
Will leave you cold and begging for more
I would watch the door for you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I ‘d say that I’m on to you but it’s harder when you’re blue
I, I, I’m slippin without you
I’m slipping, I’m slipping without you
