	Story Behind the Song This song made its first appearance in late 1997 at a live show performed by Checkmate's spoken-word side project, Mothcou. Checkmate disassembled the Mothcou project in 1998 due to creative differences with the lead performer. All Mothcou tapes were shelved. In 1999 during the final formation of songs, Checkmate chose this old Mothcou song, changed it around a bit, and funkdafied it. Checkmate titled it "ELGWTLAD," because he felt that "often times, when the truth is hidden, it is far better than when it is highlighted and all the imperfections finally show their weight." {-- Go figure, but it highlights Checkmate's Mothcou experience...
