Maybe it's a good thing when a person just can not prepare for a loss. | MP3.com CD: Mellow Out - buy it!
Credits: lyrics, music, & vocals by Linda McKeeth |
Story Behind the Song
I used to think that if a loss seemed more real to me before it happened, I would somehow be better prepared to handle it when it did occur. Now I'm glad that I don't feel it until it actually occurs, and that comprehending the reality of it acutally takes awhile. It keeps me from wasting those all important and valuable last moments.
Lyrics
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S REAL
by Linda McKeeth © 4/22/02
Chorus:
I can't believe it's real.
I can't believe you're gone.
I can't believe I'm left alone.
I can't believe it's real.
Even though I knew it was coming,
I just couldn't prepare.
It blind-sided me, knocked me down.
It's more that I can bear.
Chorus
I had known for weeks now that
This was for sure.
Still I hoped against all hope,
It wouldn't occur.
Chorus
Lots of ways to be gone, but gone
Is gone no matter what.
They all require a time of grief.
I hurt, I hurt a lot.
Chorus
I'm glad I didn't feel the pain,
Until the loss was there.
So I didn't waste our last time,
We could to be a pair.
Chorus
I could not prepare. I had to
Be knocked to the ground.
I am going to stay right here,
Till reality is found.
Chorus
I can't believe it's real.
