This is a little swing/rock thing that samples Claude Bolling's Big Band's recording of "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat." All about my bank robbing past. Right. |

Story Behind the Song
Here you hear a Rickenbacker 4003FL fretless bass through distortion, a Yamaha keyboard (piano sound) through an envelope filter, an inexpensive but tasty Zoom drum machine, and a Zoom sampler. Oh, yeah, and a squeaky voice.
Lyrics
We tried to rob a bank once
I think it was a big mistake
we tried to get out before they got back
from eating lunch by the man-made lake
in the park
but the bell rang, time to return to the work
that works their fingers to the bone
and then the bell rang time to go home
they left the place without a clue
They didn't know we were even around
it shows you got to wake up to get down
from your pedestal to see what's going on
Just sixty-one hours to go
my mouth was feeling kind of dry
looked for water but we only found one
bottle of bubbly from the Christmas party
so we drank it down, the three of us
and that, my friends, was our mistake
we tried to get out, couldn't see straight,
started spinning and I passed right out
We didn't know they were even around
it shows you got to wake up to get down
from your pedestal to see what's going on
They put us in the jail once
it had to be a big mistake
we tried to get out before they got back
to lock the door to the man-made gate in the park
then we got in a laundry cart
that cart got put on to a truck
and from that truck we busted out
the driver didn't even give a f***
He didn't know we were even around
it shows you got to wake up to get down
from your pedestal to see what's going on
