A straight up, no frills, bare bones folk song to a passion that has come and gone, and may someday return. Probably the first (and only?) piece that ever went from concept to composition inside a day. |

Story Behind the Song
One muse, one day, three takes. This one was a really bizarre piece of inspiration. the entire lyrical composition struck within an hour, was written within three or four, and the chord progression (for the most part) was done within the same day. The only aspect of the song that didn't come flying in during the initial idea-rush was the vocal harmony, which will undoubtedly change before going to final cut. As for the meaning behind the lyrics? Heck, if it isn't self-explanatory, then I'm not doing my job...
Lyrics
well it seems just enough now to drive me insane
when i'm behind in the score but i don't know the game
and i'm scrambling for answers to questions risen
and the fewer i can the more days in this prison
where i pound at the walls but they're just made of sand
and leave me with nothing but grains in my hands
so i'll cast off this ragged disguise of a savior
and succumb to the numbness of depressive behavior
and i
tell my prayers to the trees
that couldn't care less for me
for i know that the words that we spoke were convictions
but no timeframe was set to expect our predictions
and again we fear sitting across the same table
or define who we are when we can't find the labels
and my chest pounds a rhythm that threatens to kill me
and the thought of your touch never ceases to thrill me
but the day may not come when we reclaim our passions
the dreams made of vapors and desires made of ashes
but i
reach to heavens above
and am damned by this love
so you'll walk the wide earth with a smile on your face
and i'll try to get by and i'll try to keep pace
with a lifetime of wishes that pile up in the corners
when i strive be free and i can't stand the orders
is it wrong to keep hope in the back of my mind
that no matter the distance i think i may find
a day comes when you and i cross paths again
where we smile and embrace as the dearest of friends
and you tell me of all of the wonders you've seen
and i tell you about how i've lived out my dreams
as the first rays of autumn sun highlight our hair
then we both tilt our heads and we become aware
that the places we travel and things that we see
just remind me of you and recall you to me
that though older and wiser we still feel the flame
and that 'something' between us can now have a name
when i
will sing to the sea
as you keep harmony
