This is a peaceful song that tells of healing after the passing of a loved one. Not only is there Life After Death in heaven, but if we have hope, there is Life After Death right here!
CD: Hope for Tomorrow   Label: Overhead Records
Credits: by Gretchen Harris and David Harris

    Story Behind the Song
Life After Death tells the story of my mother's healing following the passing my father. It equates the tumult of the shock of a sudden death to the turning of soil, in order to make it fertile for new growth. I found this was the case in our family, and it probably holds true in all cases, even when it can't be seen as a possibility at the time. The addition of a beautiful sustained cello adds to the heavenly sounds of this song.

    Lyrics
    When I heard

    How my heart was torn

To feel what she must feel

    The moment passed

    Leaving her alone

And so much smaller on her own

    The season of turning soil

    Begins the Father's plan

He plants the seeds to harvest faith

    Chorus:

    In her there's a miracle

    Of life after death

    Of strength after none

    Of God pouring His grace

    His peace to carry on

My first thought on that day was her

    Oh, how would she survive?

And would the roses that he had grown

    vanish as if never sown?

    From the driving rain

    Comes the watered field

The buds of life begin to bloom

    Bridge:

    Now she's out there planting

    Looking for the spring

    Showing hope for tomorrow

    There is hope
