This is a tribute to Eric Johnson, my favorite guitarist. Performed LIVE IN REAL TIME by one human on one keyboard. No sequencing or editing. Simultaneous bass/drumkit with my left hand and the guitar stuff with my right, using switches and pedals to hold parts so I could bend pitch or make adjustments. Details concerning my programming techniques are available....just ask! |
CD: Jazz / Not Jazz
Credits: Composed, programmed and performed by Lee Sebel |
Story Behind the Song
This song was developed as a demonstration for the Kurzweil K2500/KDFX system. It was performed live for seminar audiences around the country over the last couple of years. This recording is a "scratch" track, produced at the request of members of the Eric Johnson mail list. It was performed LIVE and IN REAL TIME with the Kurzweil recording its own audio while I played the piece. The recording was then processed through the mastering tools within the Kurzweil. There are no overdubs or edits whatsoever. The only part not actually "played" is a sample of the "fingerpicked" pattern that opens the piece. The sample was triggered with a footswitch at the points in the tune where it was needed after the introduction, which was played live. I have a text file available if you would like a detailed explanation of how this piece was created and performed.
