A haunting song that is sure to give a chill to believers in the supernatural. It deals with Wil's favorite horse, who was put down twenty years ago at the age of thirty-three. Shortly thereafter it appeared in Wil's dreams promising that someday she woul d come back as another horse. Stuart Duncan and Rob Ickes' instrumental work make this piece even spookier.
CD: Wil Maring:   Label: Roan Pony Music
Credits: Music and lyrics by Wil Maring, Mandolin & harmony vocals: Mark Stoffel, Fiddle: Stuart Duncan, Dobro: Rob Ickes, Bass: Geoff Maring, Harmony Vocals: Mila Maring

    Story Behind the Song
"A Song inspired by a weird dream I had as a teenager, a dream that has kept me looking for in the eyes of every horse I meet to see if it might be someone I know: Sounds crazy? I guess your true friends never really leave you, even after they're gone. I'll send this one out to my friend Judy. I'll be looking for you".
    (Wil Maring, January of 1999)ˇ

    Lyrics
She began to fade in winter
And it seemed, just like the sun,
She shone a little less each day
'Til I knew the time had come.

I led her to the hillside
    Tall fescue for her bed
I whispered her my last goodbyes
and shot her in the head.

Now that was twent y years ago,
But I won't forget the day
She turned to me before she left,
Her eyes spoke as if to say....

I'll be back, just look for me, And you'll see it in the eyes
You'll see the friend you used to have standing by your side.
I'll be back, just look for me and don't turn me away.
I was destined to be yours until your dying day.

    Time did heal my sorrow,
    I'd forgotten what she'd said.
'Til she came to me in dreams one night
    She stood beside my bed.

She looked the same as e'er before,
    blaze face and raven mane.
She spoke to me in human words
    "Remember what I've said...."

Now that was ten long years ago,
Twenty years my mare's been dead
A thin, roan colt, left at my door
    repeats the words she said....

I'll be back, just look for me , And you'll see it in the eyes
You'll see the friend you used to have standing by your side.
I'll be back, just look for me and don't turn me away.
I was destined to be yours until your dying day..µ
