Mid-tempo song about long distance love and following your heart.
    CD: none   Label: none
Credits: Written/Produced by Mary Shaw and John Brennan

    Story Behind the Song
I originally wrote this song for my husband about two weeks after we met in 1991. We went out several times, but I had to leave on tour for six weeks out west. He kept calling everywhere I went and we developed a friendship over the phone while I traveled.

I thought "Wow, what a great guy - I wonder if this will turn into someting?" and the song popped out of my head in about 20 minutes.

I played the song at gigs for a couple of years and got a lot of positive response. After we got married 3 1/2 years later, I re-wrote it with writer/producer John Brennan and we recorded it to ADAT at John's studio.

I hope you enjoy it. Chris and I have been married for almost 9 years now. I'm happy to say that long distance love can work if you follow your heart!

    Lyrics
    You call across the miles
You say you miss my smile
And I wonder, I wonder again
    Why should I even try

    Chorus:
You keep chipping away at these walls
I work so hard to build
    To hide my heart
    But you’re getting through
    Maybe I’m falling
    Maybe I’m falling

    Been head over heels before
Chasing the flame that burns so cold
But I’ve been left behind so many times
    Broken and thrown

    Repeat Chorus

    Bridge:
Shadows guarding who I want to be
    Keep my heart locked inside
But something in my soul calls to me
“Don’t be afraid – no reason to hide”

So here I am across the miles
    I light a candle
    And wait a while
    Is there enough courage there
    To open the door
    And let you come inside

    You kept chipping away
At these walls I worked so hard to build
    To hide my heart
    And you made it through
    Baby I’m falling
    Baby I’m falling
    You know I’m falling
