	Story Behind the Song The music was one of the first songs J.C. Spiva and myself have ever written together. The lyrics are about an american piolit who was shot down over the small town of Speicher. The local farmers were ordered by the reich to hunt the downed piolit down. When they found him....they pitch forked him to death. After this "save one for Speicher" became his units battle cry, and if they had any ammo left after making there bomb runs they would drop the excess on the town of speicher. I think the story for the most part is true, but over the years it has grown a bit
