Story Behind the Song
This song was originally inspired by Beverly and Chris Wood's book "Dogstar". It was composed over a long weekend, locked up in Coppell,Tx for the weekend to meet the deadline. Great weekend it was.
Lyrics
DOGSTAR
(By Jonna and Chip Woodburn and David Byboth)
I went walking by the sea, old friend
Poured my heart out into the wind and then
Sat down in the sand and fell apart again
And we’ve been forever changed.
Running down the path of a moonbeam
Dreaming my way to Dogstar
I asked the starry sea if she would carry me
To the heavenly place where you are.
Can you tell me, where do good dogs go
When their eyes grow gray and weary?
Is there a special place, where I can see his face
And where I can always keep him near me?
(instrumental)
It’s lonely star way up in the sky
And you’re up there now, wish I didn’t wonder why
You were my only friend, now you’ve learned to fly
And we’ve been forever changed.
A lifetime’s gonna last forever,
But I promise that when I’m through
The light of dawn will find me gone
And I’ll be seeing you!
The light of dawn, will find me gone
And I’ll be seeing you.
