Story Behind the Song
Written and recorded quickly, as with all my music. Have to get it out, or I'll forget! This song is the first in a 9-song series, which tells the story of a son growing against his own good intentions into the image of his drunken misogynistic father.
Lyrics
Now sit down son, I got something to tell you.
Your momma don't love you no more.
She's living in Toledo now.
She sold her body, the whore, the cow.
Sold it to a man you haven't met.
No I haven't met him either, not yet.
But I know that he's wicked.
And I know he's got some disease.
And if I ever see him I'll kill him.
I'll make him get down upon his knees.
And if I ever see her, I'll, well...
I don't know quite what I'll do.
But that's neither here nor there, son.
What I want you to do, it's an easy thing to do.
I want you to forget that she ever lived.
I want you to be strong, boy.
As strong as your daddy.
Can you do that for me, son?
Can you be that for me?
But I know that he's wicked.
And I know he's got some disease.
And if I ever see him I'll kill him, I swear to God.
But first I'll make him get down on his knees.
And if I ever see her, I'll, well...
I know exactly what I'll do.
