Spring never feels so ethereal, so unreal, so far beyond our reach as it does when winter claws its icy grip about us, blinds us in her gaze and buries us in her drifts. But the hope still lays beneath the encrusted earth. Waiting. |

Story Behind the Song
It started out as a poem to hopelessness. It was one of those moments where the whole of your life was falling away, dying, drifting, turning to ash. I found myself bordering on a complete lack of faith in anything, and, out of that utter despair, this came out.
It's not really about believing in anything.. just hoping that belief will come. Just about the idea that if you're patient enough, some good will prevail, and the winter that preceeded the spring will seem delicious in its own way.
Lyrics
the winter has begun
with crystal skies and distant sun
my eyes have grown too numb with cold to see
I'll wait until the thaw
so I can touch the things I saw
and hold the memories closer still to me
close your eyes its snowing
and you can feel the life preserving
in the dark the lights are fading
they're waiting for the spring
close your arms its snowing
all the fires we made are dying
and the dreams we had are sleeping
they're waiting
waiting for the spring
the snow's beyond our eyes
it touches the sky
the flowers fold their arms above their hair
I've lost my life's connection
as the winds all change direction
the lights still burn in the streets below
but no ones living there
recall the warmth
of sunrise
they grow so deep within your mind
we'll stay encased in a shell
of waiting
til we become what we wanted to find
close your eyes its snowing
and you can feel the life preserving
in the dark the lights are fading
they're waiting for the spring
close your arms its snowing
all the fires we made are dying
and the dreams we had are sleeping
they're waiting
waiting for the spring
