Story Behind the Song
Written from the perspective of those on the airplanes, in the WTC and in the Pentagon who died to their loved ones. It was written to say that when the greatest of hate mankind can conjure up comes against us, the love of loved ones is there to lift us.
Lyrics
YOUR LOVE LIFTED ME
Open up your ears and listen.
Through all of your tears, please listen.
I had to leave in haste to a much better place.
But you must go on ‘cause I’m looking down on you.
Hate tried to take me down.
I have found you were there through your love and prayers.
Before I could touch the ground, all around.
I felt you there. Please know I felt you there.
When hate tried to take me down, my spirit was heaven bound.
When hate tried to take me down your love lifted me.
Mem’ries that we shared hold to them.
Loved ones in your life hold to them.
Though I cannot share your pain, one day we’ll meet again.
I promise you I’ll be waiting with open arms.
Hate tried to take me down.
I have found you were there through your love and prayers.
Before I could touch the ground, all around.
I felt you there. Please know I felt you there.
When hate tried to take me down, my spirit was heaven bound.
When hate tried to take me down your love lifted me.
Your love is much stronger than any other force.
You’ve got to draw upon it.
You have an infinite source.
