	Story Behind the Song Written 9-28-01. I had never seen such a strong display of patriotism as in the aftermath of Sept. 11. Most notable were all the flags I’d see and the pride and solace people had when displaying them. “The Pledge” was written to recognize the power of stars and stripes to unite and heal a nation.
