Lyrics
You Can Lead A Horse To Water
By: Mark Haney
You can lead a horse to water, you might even make him drink
Pacify the people and tell them what to think
Circumvent the masses and tell them that they’re free
But you ain’t gonna tell it to me
Looks like you bathe in muddy water, you’re greedy like a hog
And if I ever see you, I’ll whip you like a dog
Now you’ve had your chance to run things feeding on our fears
But when we need a hand you turn your backs on our tears
Just keep collecting taxes and just ignore our pleas
But you ain’t gonna get it from me
Well you know your fat, greasy fingers, just might make you slip
And then I’m gonna laugh as the rats jump off the ship
Someday I’m gonna see you, falling on your knees
Begging for forgiveness from the man from Galilee
Like a camel through a needle, that’s how its gonna be
You can ask the Lord for mercy, but you ain’t gonna get it from me
Now you see your empire crumble, burnin’ up like Rome
But it don’t mean a thing, to a man without a home
Some find comfort in a bottle, or solace in a pill
But power is your drug, and money is your thrill
With your Harvard education and your sacred family tree
Might mean something to you, but it don’t mean a thing to me
Now you’ve mortgaged the future for the sake of the past
In case you didn’t know, the future’s comin’ fast……
