this is a song about losing a friend or someone close to you, and the changes in one's self, brought about by the sadness of losing someone you love. It is, however, a very uplifting and hopeful song. |

Story Behind the Song
The song was written in greg alltop's basement, about 1 week prior to the bands first trip to the bombshelter recording studio. The song had intitially been a demo, written by terry, and recorded at his home, but when greg and nick listened to the demo, the band felt that it was a very necessary song for the band, and they immediately re-worked it, and completed "kristen."
The song is named "kristen" for an odd reason. When ryan's hope started (april 2002)reaction to the band was minimal, but a young lady named Kristen took it upon herself to email the band, and stated that she thoroughly enjoyed the 3 song demo. terry imediately replied, shocked to hear a reaction from someone, and promised her that the next song that the band wrote would be titled Kristen.
Lyrics
One year spent hiding in my fears of growth and ignorance. Gone. In these days, I've found out, just before today, in the resting of a friend. Up until that day, feelings go away, but I'm not sure I feel anymore. Not sure what I feel anymore.
