    Story Behind the Song
Written September 12, 2001. After the Attack on America I saw an illustration of the Statue of Liberty with the dust in the background. Driving home that afternoon I wrote “She Still Stands” as a song of comfort for America and its friends, and a song of contempt for its enemies.

    Lyrics
    SHE STILL STANDS

She still stands as the symbol of our freedom.
She still stands as a light to the world.
She still stands as a beacon amid peril.
Our Lady Liberty, her flame still burns
    And she still stands.

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses,
    Yearning to breathe free.
The wretched refuse of your teeming shores.
I lift my lamp to thee.”

She still stands as the symbol of our freedom.
She still stands as a light to the world.
She still stands as a beacon amid peril.
Our Lady Liberty, her flame still burns
    And she still stands.

She’s as strong as the will of her people,
Standing on the foundation of their faith.
To her heart she holds all that’s good in us,
    Our Statue of Liberty.

She still stands as the symbol of our freedom.
She still stands as a light to the world.
She still stands as a beacon amid peril.
Our Lady Liberty, her flame still burns
    And she still stands.
