	Story Behind the Song Written September 12, 2001. After the Attack on America I saw an illustration of the Statue of Liberty with the dust in the background. Driving home that afternoon I wrote “She Still Stands” as a song of comfort for America and its friends, and a song of contempt for its enemies. Lyrics SHE STILL STANDS She still stands as the symbol of our freedom. She still stands as a light to the world. She still stands as a beacon amid peril.
