Mid-Eastern feel to a pop-trance song with a grunge post punk chorus that happens to be a love song to trees. Regina (m99) drives this with the bass, while Melo weaves the flute in and out of ambient keys. The didgeridoo is strong & tribal, the drums native and the vocals soar up into the trees worshipping how they please...the lyrics are a Pagan religious call to arms...for Julia, David & all the other front line tree sitters. |

Story Behind the Song
Cyoakha wrote the song while living in a treehouse at the Oregon coast. She then heard about Julia Butterfly Hill, back when Julia had just gone up to live in Luna, the ancient Redwood she saved from destruction later. Cyoakha sent the song to Julia, care of Earthfirst and instead it ended up on the desk of the folks at HAVC, who were making the movie "TREESIT" about all the treesitters. They loved it and called her and CHURCH, as well as the song Tribe, are both featured in this wonderful movie. When David "Gypsy" Chain was killed protecting the trees, Cyoakha dedicated the song to that brave warrior also, and the band donates 1/2 of all sales of CHURCH to EarthFirst! And yes, Julia finally did get a copy of CHURCH OF THE HOLY TREES!
Lyrics
Allah Layayor (god's arms), Ahee Layeor
We need your comfort, we need your shelter
we need you comfort, Allah Layayor
you hold the little ones of fur and wing
you house the little ones that taught us to sing
you give us comfort by your warmth we are blessed, sisters of the wind, hold us to your breast
at the church of the holy trees
i get down on my knees
i worship when i please
sheltered underneath
