    A pretty warm country/honky tonk/pop (i guess??? i suck at musical labels) song about a self-doubting girl
CD: Heaven's View Down (my self-produced 10 song demo....it's not on any label)
    Credits: McDowell

    Story Behind the Song
Nothing too exceptional behind the story. Wrote for a girl I liked. Had many reasons for not reciprocating the feelings. Chacnes are she just flat out didn't like in me in that way, and I was too self-absorbed to admit that, so I made a bunch of other reasons why. Maybe I'm right though. Who knows. I wasn't joking when I said she was a mystery. The truth is slightly bent for the sake of the song though. I won't say how, but yeah it's bent. I recorded this by myself, on my mac powerbook g4, hence the loudly unsubtle lo-fi quality. I don't have access to a lot of good studio equipment. So if the lo fi sound bothers you, I apolgize.

    Lyrics
"I don't know," looking at her feet
    Madeline answers the counselor
    See, Madeline, she's a mystery.
    She herself never found her.
Plopped on the couch, watching MTV
or spelunking the GAP online store.
She said "I am just what you see.
    There's not too much more.
No there's not too much more."

    Mundane as sunday
but wants to change some day
    but Madeline figures that
    that day ain't today
    so much remains
    on the terrain
    that's too
    scary to say

    madeline lee

"I don't know what you see in me"
    vents Madeline to her lover
"I think you'd do good to leave.
    Chain yourself to another.
    Cause destiny don't favor me."
    Says Madeline, intimidated
"Take you art, take your song, take your three act plays
and shine with someone someone greater"

    Mundane as Sunday
    but wants to change someday
    but Madeline figures that
    that day ain't today
    so much remains
    on the terrain
    that's too
    scary to say

    Madeline Lee

    I'll stay here you see
    with my Madeline Lee
    a real human being,
    not contrived falsely
yeah she don't know how amazing
    she can be

    Madeline Lee
