Story Behind the Song
We are ALL God's "little ones" : Black, white, women, men, single, married, divorced, straight, gay; of all religions, races, backgrounds, and physical abilities or limitations. So when we feel different, judged, made fun of, or alienated because of our differences, God reminds us not to fear, for we are not alone. We have our God...our Savior and friend...who identifies with our feelings.
Lyrics
Oh little one I know
the pain you hide inside while sleeping.
Oh little one I hear
the secrets in your soul you're keeping.
Oh little one I feel
the fears and worries you're not speaking.
And yes my friend I see
inside of you an image... of me.
In the deep and darkened shadows,
it's cold I know.
Endless questions worthless answers,
it seems so far to go.
Oh little one I know
the persecution and the teasing.
Oh little one I hear
the words of shame in others' preaching.
Oh little one I feel
the wounds deep down that keep on bleeding.
And yes my friend I see
inside of you an image...of me.
In the midst of all the lonliness,
I am your friend.
Ever will I be right by your side.
I'm with you through the end.
Oh little one I know
the hope and promise of your searching.
Oh little one I hear
the words of truth that some are speaking.
Oh little one I feel
the happiness that comes from dreaming.
And yes my friend I see
inside of you an image of me.
