	Story Behind the Song I'm turning 43 soon, and I'm at an age now where some people think of me as a fossil. And yet I don't feel like one! Fact is, being able to record, make music and entertain allows me to feel young. The new technology out there to mould and shape a good tune certainly helps too. "Cranked Old Man" represents some firsts for me - my drum sound is now less obtrusive and boomy (thanks to _Computer Music_ magazine's awesome drum sample player SR-202, which allowed me to tune the drums - you can actually hear the kick drum without it killing your ears), and I had a lot of fun using Line 6's POD 2 recording device to do the guitars and bass with. Also listen for this neat freeware VSTi called the Cheeze Machine, a simulation of those string synths from the seventies - mmmm, cheddary goodness! Guitars used were the Peavey Horizon II and the Dreibelbass.
