PATRICK J. MURPHY ~ www.mp3.com/patrickjmurphy ~ Patrick is a Montreal-born musician who began his musical career on the Clarinet and Saxophone in 1973. He has performed several times at the Montreal International Jazz festival during the early 1980's with a variety of jazz ensembles. During that period, he could be heard at some of the local clubs, performing mostly traditional jazz as well as the old standards. He currently resides in Salt Lake City pursuing his career in Audiology and occasionally performing at the local hangouts. His musical inspiration is varied and includes such jazz greats as Paul Desmond, Coleman Hawkins, Benny Goodman, and Sidney Bechet. In fact, his playing style can be directly traced to these instrumentalists. His favorite instrument is still the Clarinet, despite the fact that he has spent most of his musical life playing the alto Sax. His debut CD, "Freshly Canned!" is available online at www.mp3.com/patrickjmurphy. Please help support the independent artists by purchasing their CDs and streaming their songs online. Story Behind the Song
#1 ON THE MAIN JAZZ CHART (10/20/02). AN MP3.COM FEATURED JAZZ STANDARD. This jazz number composed by Erroll Garner was performed by many of the great jazz musicians of the 20th century. This instrumental version features a very smooth alto sax performance with some really neat accompaniment by the "Canheads". Close your eyes, pretend you're in a dark lounge, and enjoy!
