This song was engendered by a seemingly mundane trip on public transit, which turned into a near-encounter with a lady of dark and ample talents. Her name really was London, as she told the flamboyant gent next to her, and the lyric includes dialogue I wish I'd had with her. |

Story Behind the Song
Some gothed-out mama on the bus. She was introduced as "London"
Michael wrote the song over at Uurg Klaaterol's apartment. Somehow in the conversation a copy of a Three Dog Night album was held up and in the gatefold was a picture of the band all tricked out and posing with the GTO's. Michael decided that would be a good line to include in the song--"Her name was London as if you didn't know/it's like posing with the GTO's to ride beside her."
He looked over at a white folding chair and sang "The way she was sitting in the folding chair you know she wasn't going anywhere oh no not with you." Thus another future million seller was quickly written. You better get out your platinum cards for this one.
Lyrics
London
Her name was London,
as if you didn't know.
It's like posing with the GTO's
to ride beside her.
The way she was sitting
in the folding chair,
you know she wasn't going
anywhere, oh no not with you.
It's hard, so hard to look away.
I'm hard, too hard to turn away.
Don't make me write in to 'I Saw U,'
'cause I'm here, I see you now.
If this offends you, well I'm sorry,
but I'd love to hear the sound
of your breath in my ear
