An original torchsong, with a taste of 1940s style. |

Story Behind the Song
My intention was to convey an extremely heavy sentiment, with the lightest of an indifferent shrug, as if it were nothing at all. The rhyme scheme is deliberately trite, to capture the era, although somewhere in the bridge, there's a strong flavor of Don MacLean- that was completely unintentional.
Lyrics
There's an angel in your eyes
he's taken you as his disguise
when you're asleep, I'll bet he flies
as high as all your dreams.
I guess it's fair you didn't know
there's places that you just don't go
within your heart, for fear you'll show
you're fraying at the seams.
I guess it's fair you didn't see
what's ravelled out inside of me
you couldn't know you just might be
the answer to a prayer.
I shouldn't pry- I wouldn't press
the boundries of your happiness
but should you wonder, I'd confess
I could be captured by your stare.
So if you wonder where I go
just when you chance to look my way
I'm just enchanted by the glow
There's really nothing I can say.
You really haven't done a thing
It's just that angel on the wing
and just in case you're wondering-
nothing's standing in his way
So if you'd like to take my hand
and if it seems I'm far away
I've got nothing better planned,
there's really nothing more to say.
