About how we change as we grow older and, hopefully, wiser. Old views have to give way to new awareness. Letting go of the old is not always easy.

    Story Behind the Song
Having a coffee with my wife on an outdoor patio bar, looking out at the Niagara River, thinking about what used to be, and how Life was now. Wondering what the "Purple Haze" generation was doing, now in their 50's. Having been there myself, I realized my "purple haze" was turning "blue," or my old idealized view of Life was becoming more realistic and I was more emotional as a result. This is a good thing, I thought.

    Lyrics
Gone are the days when I could remember
Who I was supposed to be
Gone are the days when I could surrender
To the dreams others had for me
Gone are the days when people applauded
And cheered all of my plays
Gone are the days of that Purple Haze

It's a rare occasion when that still happens
    To those awaiting their fate
It's a grand time when one of us opens
And is no longer someone's bait
Gone are the days when we give over
To those old worn out ways
Gone are the days . . . of that Purple Haze

    Chorus
    Purple Haze lonely
    No more for you
    Purple Haze happenin
    Nothing to prove
    Purple Haze friendly
    No longer true
    Purple Haze is turning Blue

It's time to move over, and be who we really are
Give the World lovers, and no more battle scars
It's time we stand up and shout out our name
Get back in the saddle, it's a new game

    Chorus

That's my story, it's simple and true
    Takes me out to wherever
Not at all what we've gotten used to
    That's gone forever
What lies inside is now coming through
    Taking our heartaches away
My Purple Haze is turning Blue
    My Purple Haze . . .
    My Purple Haze . . .
    My . . . . . . . . .
