Story Behind the Song
I was trying to write a song about not being judgmental. For the song, I was thinking about a time in my life when someone on the outside looking in could have thought I was a lazy bum. Actually I was going through a depression. I tried and tried, but I just couldn't write that song. After another frustrating attempt, I thought, "Why can't I write that song?" And this song came pouring out. I probably wouldn't have had to go through the depression if I had been more humble and asked for help.
Lyrics
ASK FOR HELP
by Linda McKeeth © 2/27/02
Why can't I write that song?
Why can't I write that song?
It exposes me
Too humanly,
And things I wish that
I could take back.
I can't write that song.
I can't write that song.
Can't share with you
The pains I feel
For things that I've done wrong.
Can't write that song.
I will write this song.
I will write this song.
How it came about.
How it all worked out.
And how I reached for help.
What took me so long?
Pride got in my way.
Thought I tried my best.
Didn't ask for help.
Didn't pass the test.
Tried to do it on my own.
Now regrets I've known.
I think that most of us,
We want to live right,
But we get confused.
Let the goal out of sight.
We can't find our way,
Unless we use the Light.
Learn from my past.
Learn from my past.
Look for a helping hand.
You have a Friend,
Whose love will always last.
Learn from my past.
Couldn't write that song.
That had no hope.
Had to write this song.
For we all need hope.
