A anthem to an ex-lover who lived up to this nom d'amour for better and worse.
CD: Fields in Fall   Label: Guardian Refuge
Credits: D. Chamberlin/ vocals Suzan McDonald

    Story Behind the Song
My first evening spent with her revealed her true nature: she was Pandora. She was subject to every aspect of this poor mistress' character.
Before going to sleep that morning I wrote the melody and lyric to this anthem.
I recorded the vocals and melody with a twelve-string to a click-track. then in true Pandora fashion, my vocalist (and lover)
insisted to sing this tune herself. I completed all of the instrumentation onto hard disk and rolled it off on 2 inch at Sparrow Studio, Chicago where Suzan did her vocals using the studios wonderful collection of vintage mics. This took ten to twelve takes. Oh Pandora!

    Lyrics
    On the shoreline
    Near the water
    She describes her
    Son and daughter
    Morning, Mother, Mistress,
    wrapped in my arms,
    Waiting for the sun

    Oh Pandora
    Dawn is waiting
    I am falling
    Are you sleeping?
Opening those jewelled and jumbled boxes
    Waiting for the sun

    Show to me the keyring
    I am curious and kind
Loose the lock that binds the boxes
    Tell me what you find
    Loose the lock on every
    Treasure chest, but one
    We will wait undone
    For the sun

    I am waiting
    Always waiting
    Checking in
    Anticipating
Something of a certainty in waiting
    Waiting for the sun

    Mystery compels the copper clouds
    To form a ring
    poetry bends branches borne
    of songbirds near to sing
    Love reveals the contents
    Of a sad soul's tomb
    It prepares a room
    For the sun
