Story Behind the Song
One of the band's earliest recorded songs, it was part included on the Christian Music Association's Radio Sampler CD in 1998. Thundercloud was chosen for it's compelling Christian theme. The words are a close adaptation of Psalm 81, and the "70s Rock" style song features some sizzling guitar work.
Lyrics
Sing for joy to God our strength. Shout aloud to God above. Start the music, strike the tambourine. Play a harp and lyre melody. Sound the ram's horn at new moon, and when the moon is full, decree that on the day of our great feast, the laws of God are to be preached for all to see. He says "I removed the burden from your shoulders and set you free. When you called out, I rescued you. I came from a thundercloud." Hear, oh people, the warning now. If you would but listen to me. Give your heart to no one else. Open wide your mouth for thee. But my people would not hear, nor would they submit to me. So I gave their stubborn hearts to follow their devices and their evil schemes. He says "I removed the burden from your shoulders and set you free. When you called out, I rescued you. I came from a thundercloud. I came from a thundercloud. I came from a thundercloud."
