Story Behind the Song
This in it's original form was my first attempt at songwriting many years ago, at the age of 14. Ever since I have waited until I had the facilities to do the song some justice. I hope I succeeded. Like most of my songs, this was composed originally on acoustic guitar with vocals. The lyrics delve into why we are here, but the song is much more light-hearted than that. It is a bossanova with a twist. It took about half an hour to write originally and took a few weeks to record and mix down, 9 years later.
Lyrics
Probably Not
Verse 1:
Walkin' down the street tonight,
I see a bright, unusual light,
That's flyin' round and round in circles.
It's up, down, spinning round,
playin' dot-to-dot from sky to ground.
Chorus:
It maybe angels,
It may be God,
It might be a shooting star…
It's probably not.
Verse 2:
Through the trees I see it flyin',
Wonderin' on whom it’s spyin',
It's coming on down my way…
It's on, off, there is no sound,
Behind me now I turn around.
Verse 3:
Can't believe how bright it glows,
Wonder what the radar shows,
Bet they say it's only earth-lights.
Don't believe a word they say,
Can't explain it all away.
