Story Behind the Song
This song is about the modern myth of democracy. How no matter what anyone says, the government will always be owned by those with money.
Lyrics
Democracy rides on the only notion that every one who wants can be inside. Yet what we’ve seen, the system rides on the backs of lower middle class and poverty. And the driver tightens the reigns won’t frighten me. The backroom deals are stealing meals, the puppets dance on the stage for real, no one knows what’s behind the door. My friend I do believe the end will come and time will right the course. Yet unlike the Roman Empire the ruins will not stand and our cities will all rot away, left rotting on the promised-land. Your vote is a joke. And so the Senator snickers, “it’s good to be a friend of powerful men.” The judge remains unpartisan until when? A subsidy buys a million people’s votes and the utter most respect of all the goats. The backroom deals are stealing meals, the puppets dance on the stage for real, no one knows what’s behind the door. My friend I do believe the end will come and time will right the course. Yet unlike the Roman Empire the ruins will not stand and our cities will all rot away, left rotting on the promised-land. The backroom deals are stealing meals, the puppets dance on the stage for real, no one knows what’s behind the door. My friend I do believe the end will come and time will right the course. Yet unlike the Roman Empire the ruins will not stand and our cities will all rot away, left rotting on the promised-land
