    Story Behind the Song
My best friends have inspired most of the instrumental music I've written. This is actually a medley of my favorite themes I've written about friendship and love. The song really goes through some of the various "themes" in a friendship. The first theme has a touch of uncertainty; you are just learning about the other person, or getting "vibes" from them. Then the song becomes happier; there is a bond between the two of you now. Life seems really good, thus the very quick scales and inspirational chords in the middle of the song.
And finally my favorite song I've written is the "playful" theme at the end. This was written about a very close friend of mine, and how we grew up together chasing each other around and laughing together. I put pictures of her on my keyboard when I wrote this to spark fond memories, and the melody came from those memories. Everything was great for several years, but then she moved far away and we rarely saw each other anymore, thus the music quickly becomes very sad and dramatic. There's a question of "Why did this have to happen" in the sad, "fat" chords.
And the finale is seeing her again. Living far away never cut the bond between us, thus the dramatic end.
This was recorded at a live concert where the young woman that I wrote this about was there. I played this more passionately than I ever have before, because seeing her right there as I played, sparked those original memories again, and I played with the same feelings I had when I first wrote it.
Try to imagine your best friend growing up as you listen, and many people find that the music really speaks to those memories...
    Enjoy!
