	Story Behind the Song Chris wrote this song in Nederland, CO in 1999 during a period of questioning and examination of where he was headed and why. It was recorded at Greg Barker's studio in 2000 after the breakup of the band 'Leaded' inspired remaining members Chris and Gabe to explore writing music as a two piece (bass and drums). Lyrics If you walked out to the edge of your mind would you turn back, could you? Or would you jump into oblivion and hope to snag a branch on the way down. Because you know how far you've come and you wouldn't be here if there wasn't so uncomfortable. Or would you? Did you bring your tools? Did you bring a thousand reasons and excuses with which to construct your path? Or maybe a ladder, because this plane is too small for you now, you've outgrown it. Would you build your ladder up or down? It doesn't matter, but you still have to decide. Don't squander your resources, you can't get them back. When your ladder is finally done, will it hold? How much of your ladder is built with reason, how much with excuse? Excuse is a poor substitute for reason. Well you'd better get started, here is a scary place to be.
