I'm an original artist who has lived in all parts of the world. I grew up in South America, lived in the Caribbean, resided in Los Angeles, Vancouver and finally settled in Toronto. Relocating for most of my youth does have it's down side, but the up side is that I learned from different cultures about music, about ethnic foods and about equality and getting along with everyone.I saw that in The Caribbean it only took rhythmic drums to make people dance. I have toured North America with various acts but got bored playing covers everynight. I was always writing since my childhood and found I was constipated musically and needed to get the songs out of my head.I met Wayne Brauer (my guitarist/songwriting partner) back in the early 90s and invested with him in SongWorks studio. Since then it has been an outlet for my creativity.I don't like being pigeon holed and avoid sticking to one genre. Today in music I find you have to be one certain style to succeed. I can't be that.I enjoy all kinds of music - ethnic, world, classical, punk, funk, country and everything else in between. Rock and Roll will always be my fave. I find that George Martin & The Beatles, David Bowie and other artists in that vein were never satisfied with one sound. I also believe that people get bored very easily and when you have a CD where every song sounds the same it's a bit redundant. Radio stations across Europe & Australia have different formats where each hour they feature a different genre. It seems that we lucked out by creating a smorgasbord of music. They now feature a different song off the 2nd CD for each genre. For more info you can visit my website at www.reymorillo.com. |

Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song song while I was on vacation in the Caribbean in the mid 90s.I started playing it for everyone who would listen and some local musicians wanted to record it.I finally recorded it here in 1995 but shelved it along with many other songs. Wayne, was adamant about putting it on the new CD.When we released the new CD we were astonished to find this song was getting the most airplay from the CD overseas, and because stations got it in time for Christmas, most were using it as a Christmas song. The lyrics reflect my thoughts about life, love and forgiveness, about letting go of ill feelings which keep us from growing. I wanted it to be similar to a John Lennon/George Harrison type tune. The song was fun to record and came together in no time. I hope someday people will take songs like these to heart especially for their lyrical content.
Lyrics
TIME OF THE YEAR
Here's a sign for those who care
"Life Is Short And Time Is Dear"
Enjoy it now for it won't last
And don't regret what's in the past
It's the time of the year
Time to wipe away those tears
Time for peace with friends and foes
to let them know
That you love them so
Wake up time for those who sleep
Let laughter chime for those who weep
For all is lost in yesterday
So live and love what's yours today
It's the time of the year
Time to give up all your cares
Time to make amends
and let ill feelings go
It's the time of the year
Time to wipe away those tears
Time for peace with friends and foes
to let them know
Time is lost to those who wait
The time is now don't hesitate
It's time to wipe out all this hate
