Story Behind the Song
Tommy showed me a rif for a wire choir on one of our songs and as bassist and lead singer, I said, there is no way I'll be able to pull this one off. So we wrote a song around it-- came up with a chorus, a wicked intro, and threw in some horn solos. The funny part is that we played the song at about 6 shows before we went in to record the CD, and I wrote the lyrics like the night before we recorded the song. well all except for that last line in the last chorus. I couldn't think of anything and ended up writing it while the lead vocal track was recording. I don't remember if it was an overdub or not, but that's how it happened all right.
Lyrics
You have made a mistake
You're playing video games
And the little guy on the screen controlled by you is dying
It's not the end of the world
But you feel like a squirrel
It's too screwed up, there's no escape to straighten this thing out
Do you want to start all over?
Do you want to begin again?
Fortunately this Nintendo comes equipped with a reset switch
Just push the button and you can start all over again
Your live is in no better shape
It's a shambles, full of pain
But it's all that you know and you don't know what to do to keep you flying
So you pray for a way out
From all the fear and doubt
And in the wink of an eye, you can wipe the whole of the slate clean
Do you want to start all over?
Do you want to begin again?
You just have to find this life's restart switch,
Push the button and you'll start all over again
Do you want to start all over?
Do you want to begin again?
I'll tell you where you can find this life's restart switch
He came from Galilee two thousand years ago-- you can start over again
