Story Behind the Song
This song is my first collaboration with Kait Gray and, hopefully the first of many. The song was originally inspired by Engin telling me of the whirling dervishes giving a performance in Brixton, which Engin saw. I wrote the backing track, then Kait and Engin added voices and drums. I then endeavoured to finish it and found that it seemed complete but short. In the process of trying to complete the song, I composed the second half using the wonderful Qwaali singing of Sohan Lal, Bibi Swaran Nooran & Master Dilbahaar.
Lyrics
The lyrics are approximately as follows:
Listen to my prayer oh Lord of Lords
There are none like you for me - but many like me for you
Don't examine the pages of my sins too closely
If I wasn't so full of sins, who would you be able to show your mercy to?
