GBBK together with Gottifrom 'The Fam' to put it down over a beat that seems to be literally wailing with grief (not to be mistaken with Jay-Z's Song Cry). |
CD: From the forthcoming untitled GBBK album in March 2003
Label: Ova/Unda Recordings
Credits: Produced by: Big Pieces for Illuminous Productions; Written by Unest., Big Pieces, Gotti, General LUMP |
Story Behind the Song
We were so proud of this beat when it was made in 2001 that we knew we wanted to take it to the studio. Gotti, from "The Fam" in Staten Island wasn't originally sceduled to be on the song but he was in the right place at the right time, and PI(eces) asked him if he wanted to get on. Everyone wrote a verse to the music beforehand and separately (and as said before Gotti got his verse together in the studio the day of recording). I guess because of the beat and the particular instrument(s) behind it, everyone wrote more of a grim, gloomy feeling, thus one and a half year from it's making it received the name The Melancholy Movement (in P Major). Originally the Melancholy Suite, everybody's verse is doing its own thing but the music by Pieces kinda weaves everything in to the loose family of sadness in the song...
