There is something so introspective about rain. It can opress the spirit hoping to find hapiness and give those seeking deeper meaning fuel to delve deeper. Rain washes away the old and brings new hope tho those that look close enough. But sometimes hope is a dangerous thing - because hope without change brings frustration and madness...yep, it can really suck sometimes. |

Story Behind the Song
My brother Chris wrote the lyrics for this one. It was a nice, rainy night outside and I asked him to write something - being the talented poet that he is, he was able to listen to the rain and write this song within the course of a couple of hours (and a couple of sips of tequila). It was a great night, and one of the quickest song-writing sessions I have been a part of that has created such a substantial song.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Hello my friend hello
I don’t know when or if I’ll see you here
These soft subtle memories have brought me to my knees
And I don’t know what to do, with these tears
Call my name, I’ll know,
Take my hand, but please don’t take the blame
Watch the rain fall glistening, I pray to god you’re listening
Wash away these bitter shades of pain
Chorus:
Wash away the world that changed me
Wash away the world that came
Let the rain fall down in laughter
Wipe away these tears like rain…
Verse 2:
I’ll be there to catch you if you fall
Any wound, ease your pain
I never learned to live without you. I promise that I’ll never doubt you
On my knees now I’m praying for the rain.
Tried to heal with a hand upon my shoulder
Tried to move but still a step behind
Can’t comprehend that dream that failed, can’t overcome the lies I tell
And I won’t escape the scenes within my mind
Chorus:
Wash away the world that changed me
Wash away the hurt that came
Let the rain turn tears to laughter
Wipe away the tears like rain…
(Bridge)
Never’s what I tell myself
Deny the clumsy mess I left
How I let you go, I made you leave
Redemption’s not an easy thing
to feel the pain these at memories bring
I’ll never make that same mistake again.
Wash away the world that changed me
Wash away the hurt that came
Let the rain come down in laughter
Wipe away the tears like rain…
Give me hope to make it better
And teach my soul to carry on
Watch the rain turn tears to laughter
Bitterness replaced with hope…
