Romans Road is the plan of salvation in one book of the Bible, Romans.
Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8and 10:13 & 9. See if you can find them in the song.
(Hint: they are in the last line of each verse, partially quoted.) |

Story Behind the Song
By the way, this song came to me in about 1/2 hours during a slow time are work on day in 1997.
I didn't have my guitar, but the basic tune was running around in my head.
Lyrics
Romans Road
Romans 3:23
The road began many years ago when God made man, His love to show;
But when man sinned we grew apart. It must have broken Yahweh's heart.
Cast from their idyllic home, so as nomads they did roam
Sin is judged in God's high court, 'All have sinned and fallen short.'
CHORUS
In sandaled feet the earth He trod to fulfill the plan of God.
As He walked, new life He sewed as He led the way down Roman's Road.
Romans 6:23
On our own in dark we grope to try to find a shred of hope.
Condemnation on us nags...'Our righteousness like filthy rags.' (Is 64:6)
The sole reward of ours will be...gloom, despair and agony.
We'll die in sin with our last breath 'For the wage of sin is death.'
Romans 5:8
But God has made a way, IT'S FREE, to live with Him eternally.
He sent His Son to take our place, to demonstrate His holy grace.
'Twas on the cross that Jesus bled and sin beneath His gaze then fled;
His loving arms now open wide;...'While we were sinners, for us Christ died.'
Romans 10:9
The final choice that we must make is deny ourselves, His love to take.
Simply ask and He will hear, but don't hold back because of fear.
Give to Him the fears you hold; He'll give you strength and make you bold.
The last frontier that we must brave...'Confess, believe and you'll be saved'
Your part
You must accept Him at His word and obey these words you've heard.
Just pray, ask Him into your heart; at that point, new life will start.
You'll walk with Him along the way and learn about Him day by day;
He'll give to you a lighter load as you follow Him down Roman's Road.
