When I Survey is the third and final track on Damascus' new EP. Surprisingly they've mixed together ancient hymns of the 1800's into an amazing, poetic, hip-hop sound, drawing the 30-50 year old elderly fans into the mix. Watch out! You might find your grandfather hiding in his room, bobbing his head as Chase Nafta addresses his savior in this HARD HITTING rap of reverence!?! When I Survey's chorus is derived from the old hymn song "Oh Blessed Lord", and contains some of the most sentimental christian rap I have ever layed ears on. This track also shows their talents vocally and might as well be considered a worship song... with rap in it.

    Story Behind the Song
"We wanted to dedicate this album to the man who made this ALL possible. Thank you Jesus! I picked these funky choruses just for you from our illest hymn book at the Gospel Hall!" Peace!
    Bassist-John Hoegg

    Lyrics
When I survey the wondrous cross on which the prince of glory died my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it Lord that I should boast save in the cross of Christ My God. All vain things that charm me most. I sacrifice them to his blood. See from his head, his hands, his feet. Sorrow and love flow mingled down. Did Heir such love and sorrow meet? Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Where the whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small. Love so amazing, so divine, demands my heart life, my all.
    Chorus:
Oh Blessed Lord, what hast thou done? Upon the altar laid, God's only son. Oh, blessed Lord, what hast thou done? My soul such a ransom paid, God's only son.
    V2
Now in a song of greatful praise to Christ my Lord My voice I'll raise. With all his saints I'll join to tell. My Jesus has done all things well. All world's his glorious power confess his wisdom and all his works express but oh his love what tongue can tell? My Jesus has done all things well. How sovereign Lord wonderful and free has been his love to sinful me. He plucked me from the jaws of hell. My Jesus has done all things well. I spurned his grace. I broke his laws. And yet he undertook my cause to save me though I did rebel. My Jesus has done all things well.

    Chorus: ( G-O-D.).....
    V3(improv)
Chase: God's only well beloved son.
Filer: The father in his willing hand...
has spared thee from his side...
    Chase: Upon thy precious blood.
Filer: And our hearts will bear above at such a cost thy bride.
Chase: Behold thee is the lamb.
Filer: And our cold hearts with faith repose upon thy precious blood. Peace and the steady current flow upon thy mercies flood.
    Chase:Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.
    Chase: Jesussss.
    Chase: GOD

    Chorus:
