Story Behind the Song
Was actually praying with a group one night and pastor quoted that scripture.
In my mind, I saw a potter's wheel. Then merry-go-round on a child's playground
in comparison. Sit in the middle and it is easier to stay on the wheel....you
won't get thrown off. Anyway, a few days later, the song just came
together.....
Lyrics
God's Potter's Wheel
Verse 1
God says He's the potter...you are the clay;
He'll mold you in Christ's image...shape you day by day.
You just have one choice to make
and then His hands you'll feel;
Keep your life in the middle of His potter's wheel!
Chorus Why don't you....
Get up on God's potter's wheel and let His work begin?
Stand firm on His potter's wheel, let Him take YOU for a spin?
His hands will shape your vessel, He'll place on you His seal
If you keep your life centered on God's potter's wheel.
Verse 2
God knows what's in your future...what you're gonna do.
He'd like the opportunity to lead and guide you through.
But you must give it all to Him, before Him you must kneel;
To keep your life in the middle of His potter's wheel.
Verse 3
Like a boat upon the ocean, you sometimes rock and roll;
The storms of life surround you, the pounding takes it's toll.
So trust your life to Jesus, He'll give you and even keel;
Help you keep your life in the middle of His potter's wheel.
Verse 4
You sometimes suffer damage, in the fray you often yield;
Like a soldier with no armor, you fight without your shield.
Turn back to your Maker, your wounds God will heal.
Put your life back into the middle of His potter's wheel.
