Story Behind the Song
This song is my personal testimony - of stubbornness, patience, and an underlying desire of the created to grow closer to the Creator. So in that sense the song wanted to 'write itself', but I wasn't sure how much of it I wanted to let out! Have you ever noticed how the songs that hit closest to home always require our total heart to preserve and share with others....this song was no different.
Lyrics
Time that seemed so slow in my mind’s eye, has flown by
Years I wasted stubborn and alone
In my heart always racing towards tomorrow
To give me one more chance to prove that I could make it on my own
And when I look back on those years that passed
See my lack of faith through the looking glass
As a lesson that I had to learn
That was a different life, and a different girl
Gotta throw out all these old memories, hurting me
Of all the moments You held out Your hand
And I turned my back to You and walked away
Oh, my Lord, You had the patience of entire hosts of holy saints
And all Your love pouring in on me, overwhelming me
I look in my heart and see You’ve always waited there for me
You’ve watched me walk over live coals down below
Let me stumble, let me tumble down
Oh, my Father, Your heart, it must be broken
Or nearly so, I’m afraid to say ‘I love You’, ‘cause I think You know
