Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by talks I had with older relatives and friends, regarding their memories of Christmases past.
Lyrics
Cold winter nights spent by the fire.
Take a sip of hot apple cider.
Rum in eggnog & gingerbread men.
Break into song every now & then.
Chorus:
Children building snowmen - getting wet from head to toe.
Skating on a frozen lake. Make angels in the snow.
Candles on the Christmas tree - oh, how they glow!
All these things remind me of Christmas, long ago.
Snowflakes dance about the sky.
Stars give light from way up high.
Choirs, like angels to God, proclaim their joy - their thanks - all in His name.
(Chorus)
"The Holly and the Ivy", "Lo, How a Rose e'r Bloom...", "Silent Night", "The First Noel" - songs that we still sing.
A time for friends and family - what joy and love they bring!
A time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, The King!
(Chorus)
All these things remind me of Christmas, long ago.
Let us not forget the reason for the sharing of the season.
Amid the chaos and confusion, let us stop, without intrusion, and think back to the time of Christmas, long ago!
