"This is gonna be my attempt at an ironic, attitude-laden alternative rock tune, you know, with the super-compressed vocals and all that shit. So I'm gonna try to improvise some lyrics that are so deep..." --from the prologue |

Story Behind the Song
A self-consciously hamfisted parody of '90s-style navel-gazing post-grunge alternative pop. All the lyrics are completely ad-libbed--the amazing thing is that about 80% actually fit. And as a bonus, I left in three tracks worth of studio chatter at the beginning. Well, I think it's funny, anyway. Instruments: frankenstrat thru Dod Classic Fuzz (both guitars), Peavey Milestone II (bass), back of my Samick acoustic guitar (drum).
Lyrics
I've got abs of steel
Underneath all this flab
But everybody never noticed
Everything that's good about me
I just want to tell
Everybody I'm here
Cause I never go outside my house
And smell the fresh morning air
Come on
I'm nobody
Inside this place
It's like a little egg and I'm
Stuck inside all this goo
Fuckin' everybody just tries
Makin' sure I know I'm different
But I don't care, it just
Gets me down and drives me in here
Come on
I spend time doing things
That make me a better guy
At least I think so
It's just that depending on other's standards
I'm just a hermit
I'm just a nobody
Nobody cares if I die-eee
They would just keep going on
I'm nobody
Inside this place
In this egg I just
Wanna break out, put a fist through the wall
Come on
All this white is getting to me
Shoulda painted the walls blue
Beat on the walls
Let me outta this fuckin' place
