Story Behind the Song
This song was not meant to be technically precise, but to express strong emotion. It is an homage to my brother. Many years ago instead of killing my father, he seriously cut his own hand and lost most of the use of his fingers. One of those nights that my father returned home drunk, something possessed him again, and he became furious because of the unwashed dishes in the sink. He yelled at my brother to go and wash the dishes, and came in my room shouting, waking me up (at 2 a.m.). He wanted to spend the rest of the night foaming at the mouth and haranguing. But this time, I couldn't handle it anymore. For the first time in my life, I raised my hand against my father, pushing him out of my room, then began to put my possessions in my backpack. He didn't get it, and returned to my room. This time I pushed him out with more violence, kicking and punching him, shouting that I couldn't take it anymore. I pushed him onto the couch, jumped up on it, and continued to kick him. I grabbed the framed picture from the wall and broke the glass over his head. During all this, my brother finally decided he could not accept my father's threatening drunken fits either, and grabbed the butcher knife, coming toward the living room. But a spark of reason came to him, and he discharged his anger by driving the knife into the kitchen table. In doing so, he cut his hand. He came to the living room while I was still striking at my father, and with blood pouring from his hand onto the broken glass from the picture, my grandmother and stepmother crying hysterically, he said to my father, showing him his hand, "This is because of you."
